Knitted scarves merchandise
EVA Biennial
A series of works that use merchandise as a medium and a type of economy, here comprising 14 purchasable scarves that carry a poetic text written by the artist.
Each scarf is a discrete fragment of the overall text, front and back – evoking images of land, bodies, and political struggle – that, when assembled together, read as a modular poem of hope and solidarity. As an artwork that is a wearable fragment of a poetic whole, the work represents a form of knowledge transmission that resists the political feed of algorithmic and artificial intelligence. A limited number of scarves are purchasable via the EVA shop at eva.ie. Proceeds from sales of the scarves will be used to support grassroots cultural initiatives outside the framework of cultural funding and institutional endorsement.
